A Healthy Yacht
While the bulk of our consulting projects tend to be healthy homes as in single family homes, on solid ground, occasionally we have the opportunity to consult on some different (and exciting) projects, including campers, sprinter vans, tiny homes on wheels, schools and yoga studios, and recently we provided healthy materials recommendations for a yacht!
EcoNest's Andrea Allen Sis, AIA served as a healthy home consultant and materials research specialist from the early stages of the project, vetting the materials proposed by Winch Design and Cantiere delle Marche to ensure that everything from interior finishes and furnishings to adhesives and structural elements used on the exterior met the Owner's specific requirements.
Built at Cantiere delle Marche’s Ancona’s facility, Winch Design meticulously considered every element and material onboard against sustainability metrics and leading global health benchmarks, taking into account whether each material is natural, non-toxic, low-VOC (volatile organic compound) and responsibly sourced. With input from EcoNest Architecture, specialists in health conscious and ecological building, the result is an exceptionally high level of indoor air quality, reduced electromagnetic fields and a minimized environmental footprint.
We, at EcoNest, are thrilled to have been a part of this team and to have the opportunity to work with the brilliant designers at Winch Design who have demonstrated so well that health and sustainability does not mean sacrificing beauty and function.
